LAMDA - Future tech budget 2.1m

Bringing Complex Projects to Life, From Start to Finish.

I love managing large-scale projects, taking them from an idea to full realization. Whether it's a technical setup or a creative vision, I make sure everything runs smoothly, on time, and on budget.

Working with LAMDA the Drama School On an LED Volume, Motion Capture, Cinema + Project:

I had the privilege of leading a £2.1 million project at one of the worlds top drama schools, where we integrated state-of-the-art technology, including an LED virtual production volume and a separate motion capture volume. This was along side Lighting and sound upgrades to the theatres, 2 pop-up cinemas, acoustic treatment to multiple rooms and a vast amount o Filming, lighting sound and editing equipment.

Short overview of the process

Initial Planning:
After being handed with a blank spreadsheet with 6 titles on (eg, Mo-cap, LED volume Cinemas, etc) I began by interviewing the school's departments to understand what tech they needed for future growth. Based on that, I put together an initial budget of £1.9 million, which grew at a later date with further investment to over £2.1 million as the project took shape.

  1. Tender Process:
I managed the entire tender process—writing the tender documents, setting the evaluation criteria, and reviewing candidate submissions. I worked very closely with London Universities perching consortium on this piece of work. Once we chose the best companies for the job, I worked closely with them to get the tech installed and functioning properly.

  2. Implementation:
From installing the LED volume to integrating motion capture, I was there every step of the way, coordinating between the school and the tech companies to make sure everything ran smoothly. Not only this but helped the staff at LAMDA work out how the technology would be brought into the curriculum properly, we never wanted anything to collect dust.

  3. SumoSky Integration:
As the project evolved, I took on the extra task of helping to secure funding for and incorporating the SumoSky element (A series of lighting bars on the walls and ceiling that shows what the LED volume has on it, see below) into the space, expanding the school’s capabilities further.

  4. Training & Ongoing Use:
After everything was set up, I worked with the school to make sure the staff knew how to use the technology effectively, or who they needed from outside companies, and who needed employing. In turn helping to build workflows and providing training so that the system could be used daily. I am currently helping them to bring in outside productions to use some of the spaces , including the LED volume for commercial hires and more.
