BBC Green Planet Exhibition Photography
I was commissioned by Planning Unit, a London-based design studio specializing in graphic design, branding, and visual identity, to photograph their work for the BBC Green Planet AR Experience.
Planning Unit was responsible for the stunning typography, wayfinding, and environmental graphics that formed an essential part of this immersive exhibition. My role was to document the space, ensuring that their design work was beautifully captured, while also highlighting the visitor experience.
Graphic & Typography Documentation
Capturing intricate signage, wall texts, and carved lettering throughout the exhibition.
Showcasing window displays with typography and visual elements that enhanced the space.
Focusing on how visitors engaged with the design—reading signs, following wayfinding, and interacting with exhibits.
Visitor Interaction & Experience
Documenting attendees using the VR headsets that transported them into the world of plants, narrated by Sir David Attenborough.
Capturing moments of engagement, curiosity, and interaction within the exhibition.
Highlighting how Planning Unit’s design choices helped guide visitors through the space seamlessly.
Exterior & Architectural Photography
Photographing the exterior branding, large-scale window graphics, and text-based installations that defined the visual identity of the exhibition.
The Goal
This project wasn’t just about photographing an exhibition—it was about capturing the power of graphic design in shaping immersive experiences. My images helped Planning Unit showcase their work, demonstrating how their meticulous design details transformed the BBC Green Planet experience into a cohesive, visually compelling space.
The Impact
✔Provided Planning Unit with a professional portfolio of their work for future branding projects.
✔ Created a visual narrative that captured the essence of their designs in action.
✔ Helped document a groundbreaking exhibition that blended design, technology, and nature.
Final Thoughts
This project reinforced the importance of graphic design in experiential storytelling. Planning Unit’s ability to create cohesive, elegant, and purposeful visuals played a huge role in shaping the success of this exhibition, and I was honoured to document their work in action.
